Sunrise Systems or Morning Sunrise as others have come to know them offers its powerful multi-light therapy unit, the SRS320. This incredible unit has the ability to help treat Seasonal Affective Disorder (SAD or the Winter blues) as well as being used as either an dawn simulator or a dusk simulator.
As a SAD unit, the SRS320 puts out 10,000 lux of light, which is the recommended intensity of light in helping with the treatment of Seasonal Affective Disorder. Research studies have shown that in some cases, prescription medication can be avoided by simply using high intensity (10,000 lux) light for an hour or so. This is an alternative to drugs which anyone would tell you always have some sort of side effect.
As a Dawn Simulator, the SRS320 gently wakes up to a slowly increasing of light intensity. It is a full brightness just prior to the alarm going off (a back up feature in case you have not woke up). This simulates the sunrise. Studies have shown that waking up to a sunrise sets you up for the day. You are not so tired or seem like you have slept.
The Dusk Simulator feature is very beneficial when trying to go to sleep. Most people have a hard time falling asleep. With the Dusk Simulator, one could be reading a book, the light slowly starts to diminsh and your eyes start to get tired. Next think you know, you have fallen asleep.
